Jamie was a kind and loving person. His children were the love and pride of his life. Everyone who knew him knew what a pleasant person he was. Family gatherings, beach trips with his family and deer hunting with his brother-in-law Neil were his favorite activities. He also possessed a very wry sense of humor and especially enjoyed pranks and jokes on his children and his sister. Jamie’s family, friends and co-workers will always remember his loving, caring and gentle nature.
A proud Mountaineer, Jamie graduated from Appalachian State University, where he was an active member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. He was employed by the City of Mount Holly where he was the city’s assistant city manager and financial director. Jamie also served as a council member in his church.
Jamie was the son of the late Carl Bruce Guffey, Jr. who passed away when Jamie was a child.
Those left behind to cherish the precious memories of Jamie are his loving wife of 18 years Beth Turney Guffey along with their two beautiful children Ruby Abigail Guffey and William Bruce Guffey; his mother and stepfather: Sue Swayney Carpenter and Sam Carpenter of Belmont, North Carolina; his sister: Michelle Ciccarelli and husband Vince of Belmont, North Carolina; his brother in law: Neil Turney and wife Deborah of Rock Hill, South Carolina; uncle Jim Swayney and wife Audrey of Stanfield, North Carolina.
