Janell Williams Friar

Best Biscuit maker in the world… A wonderful mother and grandmother… A lady who many in the neighborhood referred to as “mother”, and a lady who loved her Lord and Saviour. These words speak volumes about the character of Ollie “Janell” Price Friar, age 83 passed away at her residence Sunday, September 11, 2016 with her family by her side.

She was the daughter of the late James Lonnie Williams, Sr and Margaret Leola Gladden Williams. Janell was preceded in death by one son Bobby Gene Goforth and one brother James Lonnie Williams, Jr.; Half-sister: Rosie Stepp Jenkins.

Loved ones left behind to cherish Janell’s memories are her three daughters and son in law: Brenda Goforth Radford of Gastonia, North Carolina; Nancy and Steve Rolen of Gastonia, North Carolina, Sherry Turner of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Ronald Bingham, Michelle Bingham, Tony Skumanick, Lisa Baugher, Erica Grinder and Tabitha Goforth; eight great grandchildren: Breanna Bingham, Wesley Bingham, Toni Baugher, Zachary Baugher, Allison Skumanick, Emma Lee Skumanick, Brittney Helton and Olivia Griner; one great-great grandchild: Shayla Leach; closest and dearest friend Betty Martin.

Celebrating the Life lived of Janell will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 16, 2016 at First Freewill Baptist, 2316 Union Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 with Pastor John Gibbs to deliver words of comfort to her family and friends. Active pallbearers are Ronald Bingham, Tony Skumanick, Scott Chitwood, Brian Slagle, Ronnie Nix, Jr and Brian Humphrey. Graveside and committal will follow at the Hollywood cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers donations are asked to be given in Janell’s memory to Hospice of Palliative Care, 900 Dontia Drive Lincolnton, North Carolina 28092.
