Born on July 9, 1941 to Robert F. Cope and Iona Bookout Cope, Mrs. Miskelly was one of 10 children and grew up and lived most of her life in Stanley, NC. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1959 and married the love of her life, Francis E. Miskelly, on January 18, 1960. They had 4 children: Sharon (Kenneth) Dillard of Gastonia, Todd (Debbie) Miskelly of Belmont, Jackie (Randy) Link of Cherryville, and Brian (Linda) Miskelly of Stanley. She has 6 grandchildren: Fran Hershberger, Amos Dillard, Chris Bell, Madison Self, Molly Miskelly, and Madelyn Miskelly. She also has 6 great grandchildren.

Jean was a housewife and mother and also worked for Burlington Textiles and Easco Handtool. She was an excellent cook and took pride in her cakes. She was a flower gardener and could make anything grow. She also loved music and had a beautiful voice.

She will be missed and is survived by her 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and her surviving siblings: Judy Bridges, Ken Cope, Emily Simmons, Rachel Pruitt, Dave Cope, and Norman Cope. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by 3 siblings.

The family would like to say a very special “Thank you” to Stanley Total Living and all the staff who took such good care of our mother on the 400 unit. We are most appreciative of the love and kindness shown to her. To all the nurses, CNAs, dieticians, Katie NP, Dr. Nelson, SW, PT/OT, and the Activities Department, Ivan Davis, and the administrative staff and Jennifer Defelice. We especially want to say thank you to Jessica, who is an excellent nurse and compassionate caregiver and who always goes the extra mile to care for her residents.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Stanley Total Living.
