He was born in Gastonia on January 3, 1946 to the late William and Sara Owensby.
Jerry honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a skilled machinist and took great pride in his craft. Jerry had a lifelong passion for hunting and firearms, enjoying the outdoors and the traditions that came with both.
He is survived by his wife, Nettie Marie Owensby; son, Jerry Scott Owensby; stepchildren, Edward Grigg and wife Sherry, Barry Grigg, Charles Grigg and wife JoAnne; brother, Billy Owensby and wife Robin; sister, Judy Owensby Laughlin.
He is preceded in passing by his brothers, Bobby Owensby and wife Lib, Roy Owensby; sisters, Marlene Jenkins and husband Don, Elizabeth Conner and husband Charles.
