Joann Maddox Conard

Joann Maddox Conard, 79, went to her heavenly home on May 1, 2013 surrounded by her family and friends. Joann was born October 18, 1933 in Cleveland County to the late John and Estelle Ramsey Maddox. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother. Besides raising her daughters and grandchildren, Joann had a hand in the nurturing care of many children in the family, circle of friends and community; many have lovingly called her “Mom” or “Grandmother”. All those who knew Joann will remember her strong-willed yet tender caring nature.

Joann is survived by two caring daughters, Susie Ward, and partner Rich Beresniewicz of Cramerton, Debbie Whittaker and husband, Bobby of Belmont; sister Gail Brown and husband Steve, brother, Earl Maddox and wife Kay all of Kings Mt; holding her memory in their hearts are two grandchildren, Chad Ward of Cramerton and Alicia Whittaker of Wilmington.

Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Conard and sister, Kara “Diddy” Yarboro.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 5 at Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
