

Joyce worked as a Payroll Clerk for Burlington Industries until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Flint Groves Baptist Church, where her faith was the foundation of her life. She found great joy in reading her Bible and daily devotionals and lived her life with love, kindness, and devotion.
Joyce dearly loved her children and was a loving and devoted wife who cherished her family above all else. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed relaxing with word search puzzles. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her love for her family, and the warmth and compassion she shared with everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of 70 years, Carl Painter; granddaughter, Stephanie Painter; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Lazenby Painter; sisters, Eunice, Dot, Mildred and Francis; brother, Harry.
She is survived by her sons, Roger Painter and wife Cissy, David Painter and wife Gina, and Tim Painter; grandchildren, Chris Painter and wife Kristy, Jeff Painter and wife Crystal, Travis Painter and wife Mindy, Sara Painter, Megan Painter Hasler and husband Daniel; great grandchildren, Reagan Hull and husband Ian, Donovan Painter, Aiden Painter, Andrew Painter, Ansley Painter, Hannah Brooks, and Ashlee Brooks; great great grandson, Walker; and sister, Evelyn Carpenter.
A committal service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 12, 2026 in the chapel of Mausoleum of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park.
