Kammie Kay Monk

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Kay McPherson, and her father, William Larry McPherson.

Kammie is survived by her husband, Paul, and three daughters, Karrigan, Karsyn and Kyndle. She is also survived by her brother Eric McPherson, his wife Heidi and their children Drew and Wesley, in addition to bonus sister Laura Gallardo, her husband Nic and their children Ruby and Ilam. She loved all of her fur grandbabies.

She was a teacher at Gaston County Schools for 32 years and spent 31 of those years at Carr Elementary. Kammie loved her job and considered all of her students her babies. She touched the lives of hundreds of students throughout her career, teaching multiple generations.

She spent her summers sitting on the beach at Ocean Lakes, her favorite place.

Kammie loved spending time with her family, at Ocean Lakes, Walt Disney World, Dollywood and just spending time together at home. She also loved traveling in her camper. Her goal was to visit all 47 South Carolina state parks. She made it to 22.

Kammie will be remembered as someone with a big heart who never met a stranger. She will be deeply missed by her family and all her knew her.
