Mrs.Harrison was born on May 13, 1926, in Cherokee County, NC, to the late Steve Roberts and Leila Newton Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Frank Harrison, three brothers, five sisters, and her great grandson, Nicholas O’Brien.
Mrs.Harrison was a loving and dedicated wife, Mother, and grandmother (MawMaw) and great grandmother. Lila was a dedicated longtime member of 65 years of Shady Brook Baptist Church. She loved her Church family with all of her heart. Lila retired with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools after 20 years. She then continued her career as the Daycare Director at Shady Brook Baptist for over 45 years until she retired at the age of 95. Her life and love was dedicated to raising children in a Christian environment.
Lila is survived by her brother, Jack Roberts (Dana); her sister, Ruth Kincaid; her children, Barbara Bowen (Bill), Roxanne FitzHenry (Darren) and William Michael Harrison (Lora); five grandchildren, Tammy O’Brien (Richard), Jeff Bright (Angie), William FitzHenry, Andrew FitzHenry (Shea), Madeline Harrison; great-grandchildren, Haley Hall (Trevor), Spencer Bright, Audrey FitzHenry, Layton FitzHenry, Weston FitzHenry and Skylar FitzHenry, as well as two great-great grandchildren, Lilah Hall and Lucas Hall.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Shady Brook Baptist Church. The celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with the entombment to immediately follow all services at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054.
