Louis August Voigt Jr.

Louis August Voigt Jr., 79, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014. He was born September 27, 1934 in Roanoke, VA to the late Louis A. Voigt Sr. and Virginia (Upson) Voigt. Louis graduated from Virginia Tech and went on to teach high school and at Virginia Southern Business College for several years. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Upon his return home he began his career as general manager of two hotel chains from which he eventually retired.

Louis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ruby A. Voigt of Gastonia; sons, Robert Voigt of Clover, SC, Robin Voigt and wife Yong Ping of Tega Cay, SC; step-children, Tony Alexander and wife, Norma of Wingate, NC, Carolyn A. Murray and husband, Coyt of Tega Cay, SC, Diane A. Stewart and husband, Bill of Kings Mt, NC; grandchildren, Stefanie and Zachary Voigt, Robert Louis Voigt Jr. and several other grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. C. Sydnor Thompson III.
