Born June 7, 1930, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Marilyn made her home in Gastonia, where she dedicated 32 years to shaping young minds as a junior high and high school teacher. A lifelong learner herself, she attended Wake Forest University and later completed her education at Belmont Abbey while raising her family.
Her devotion to faith was evident in her active membership at First Baptist Church, Gastonia, where she touched many lives through her service and fellowship.
Marilyn's greatest joy was her family. She was married to Douglas Max Jamison for 65 beautiful years until his passing. Together they raised four children who blessed them with a legacy of love that spans generations. She is survived by her children: Debbi Jamison Frye (Wade) of Sherrills Ford, NC; Doug Jr. (Mary) of Southlake, TX; David Sr. (Debbie) of Miami, FL; and Dale Jamison Lanier (Michael) of Walnut Springs, TX.
Her loving family includes eleven grandchildren: Dustin Jamison Frye, Robert Jason Frye (Whitney), David Jamison Jr., Alexander McAllister Jamison, Bryant Craig Jamison, Lexie Jamison Kelly (Kane), Gable Max Jamison (Anna), David R. Grubbs (Jess), Sarah A. Grubbs, Brandon M. Lanier, and Matthew C. Lanier. She was also blessed with eighteen great-grandchildren: Jamison, Keeli, Lennox, Maddox, Pearson, Shelby, Tucker, Asher, Blakely, Tate, Lincoln, Hudson, Paxton, Sutton, Corbin, Ivory, Brooklyn, and Ella.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Douglas; her parents, Locke Craig Suttle, Sr., and Jane Bolick Suttle; and her brother Locke Craig (L.C.) Suttle, Jr.
Her warmth, dedication to education, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in the Masonic Garden of Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054.
