She was a devoted follower of the Lord and attended church regularly. After a long career, she retired as a textile worker.
She was versatile and resourceful. Martha was able to do anything that she set her mind to. She loved fishing, enjoyed picking out rocks and vegetable and flower gardening. Martha was also an amazing cook.
She was a devoted and gentle mother, always showing love and care for her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of 24 years, Marcus Helms; son, Jack Griffin; and granddaughter, Andrea Black.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Griffin, Dan Griffin and Steve Griffin; grandchildren, Corey Griffin, John Griffin, Lauren Griffin, Emily Gatewood and husband Grey, Tyler Griffin and his wife Megan, Ashlee Griffin and husband Wesley Nichols; great grandchildren, Ivy, Gavin, Jennie, Perseus, and one on the way; sisters, Linda Whisnant and husband Terry, Susan Howe and late husband Harry and Mary Tipton and husband Herb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park with the Celebration of Life Service beginning at 2:00 pm. A committal service will immediately follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
