Marvin Jolly Jr.

Fishing was one of his loves…. Marvin Jolly Jr. age 72 went to be with his loving Lord and Savior on July 31, 2017 at his residence. Marvin was a man of God. He was best described as a loving man, a great husband, father and grandfather. Marvin worked in the textile industry most of his career. He knew just about everything known in the operation of the mills. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Left behind to cherish Marvin’s memories and carry on his legacy are his loving wife of 50 years, Donna Almond Jolly of Gastonia, North Carolina; his two daughters and son in law: Della and David Cummines of Gastonia, North Carolina and Brenda Jolly of Gastonia, North Carolina; son and daughter in law: Chris and Cindy Jolly of Stanley, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Casey, Christin, Victoria and Lillian.

Marvin was the son of the late Marvin Jolly, Sr and Kathleen Wyke Jolly. Marvin was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Jolly Sutherland and brother Eugene Jolly.

A Life Well Celebrated Ceremony will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2017 at the East Gastonia Church of God, 1407 Cedar Avenue, Gastonia, North Carolina with Reverend Glen Mecum delivering words of comfort to Marvin’s family and friends. Active pallbearers are David Jolly, Tony Jolly, William Jones, Shane Price, Ron Yarborough and David Cummines.

The family will receive guests from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM prior to the ceremony at the church.

A graveside and committal service will conclude at 10:00 AM Thursday, Aug. 2, 2017 at the Armstrong Cemetery on Osceola Street, Gastonia.
