Maxine Nations, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her life was a beautiful example of compassion, grace, and quiet strength.
Maxine was married to the love of her life, Hubert Nations, for 62 wonderful years. Together they built a home filled with love, faith, and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert Nations, and her son, Larry Nations.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Francine McSwain and Karen Conley (John); her grandchildren, Angela Spurlock (Lance), Tony Benton, Kim Quinn, and Hubert Larry Nations, Jr. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Emma Haskins, Logan Nations, Mikaela Nations, and Bryson Nations, along with other extended family members who will forever treasure her memory.
Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will always be remembered for her kindness, grace, honesty, and
wonderful sense of humor. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and caring heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Maxine enjoyed working word finds, playing Scrabble, listening to music, reading, cooking, and spending peaceful afternoons putting together puzzles. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family.
A faithful member of Zion Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina, Maxine's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved her church family and lived each day with compassion, humility, and a servant's heart. Her unwavering faith and gentle example will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, faith, resilience, and generosity will live on through the generations she leaves behind. Her warmth, laughter, and nurturing spirit will forever remain at the heart of her family.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Zion Baptist Church, 2437 S. Propst Street, Gastonia, NC, or to the Humane Society of Gaston County, in honor of Maxine's memory.

A Graveside Service will be held at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054, US, on July 20, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
