Mildred was born on July 1, 1925 to Dorothy and Harold Jenkins in Corning, New York. She was raised in a Godly home and accepted Jesus as her Savior as a young girl. After graduation from school in 1942, she worked for Ingersoll-Rand Company until the end of World War II. She then attended the Missionary Training Institute (now Nyack College) where she met and married Bob in 1948.
Mildred was then employed by the Xerox Corporation in Rochester, NY where she was the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Vice President. After retirement in 1980 they moved to North Port, Florida. While there, she became active in her church as well as holding office in the Christian Woman’s Business Club. They then moved to Orlando where she worked part-time for the Southeastern District Office of the Christian & Missionary Alliance as a secretary to the Assistant District Superintendent.
She and Bob moved into Good Samaritan Village in 1995 where she was active in the Good Samaritan Community Church. She became involved in the church choir and also played the piano in many of the services. Mildred served several years as a weekly volunteer at Give Kids the World, working in the office of the President as secretary. She and Bob had many wonderful friendships at Good Samaritan Village - some were friends from their college days. Bob and Molly Ramsier were faithful friends that they met at church. The Ramsiers were very faithful to assist she and her husband, Bob with rides, shelter during hurricanes, and anything else that they needed, during their later years in Florida.
In October of 2022, God moved Mildred and Bob to Kings Mountain, to be with family. The Lord blessed them with many sweet memories with their grandchildren and great grandchildren, including witnessing baptisms and worshiping with them at First Baptist Church Kings Mountain.
They moved to Summit Place in Kings Mountain, in the Spring of 2023, where Mildred enjoyed friendships and visits from her family, and church members – deacons, pastors, life group members. Charles Welch was particularly faithful to visit and offer a word of prayer; and The Joy Life Group and Grow Ministry sent frequent notes and cards which she was very grateful for. The family would like to thank our Life Groups of First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain for their prayer support. In addition, her family would like to thank the staff at Summit Place for their care over the past three years. They are also grateful to Dr. Julia Saluke of CaroMont Family Medicine and Via Health Partners Palliative Care and Hospice of Cleveland County for their care of Mildred.
Mildred is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carla Wyllie; her two grandchildren Hannah Wyllie Santiago (Michael), and Robert B. Wyllie (Tammy); and three great grandchildren Lucy Santiago, Garrett Santiago and Stephen R. Wyllie, all of Kings Mountain. She is also survived by her brother-in-laws Hugh Wyllie, Jr. and David Wyllie as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Robert R. Wyllie and her son Stephen D. Wyllie.
A visitation for Mildred will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 605 W King St, Kings Mountain, NC 28086, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
