

Miza Parris, 95, died Sept. 7, 2015, from complications of pneumonia. She was preceded in death by husband William Carey Parris. She was preceded in death by husband, William Carey Parris, along with her parents, Joseph Henry and Nancy Elizabeth (Betty) Whitener; sisters and brother-in-law, Hattie Fain, Elsie, Pat Rose, Ida, husband Luther Kidd, Nina Whitener; brothers and sisters-in-law, Anderson, wife Bessie Whitener, Dillard wife Elizabeth Whitener; Alfred Whitener, Hobbie wife Lucille Whitener, Sheridan Whitener; brothers-in-law, Gardner Parris, Jack Armstrong; sisters-in-law and husbands, Lola, Rob Smith; Rixie husband Wilburn Anderson, Jessie Parris, Ida Parris, Hessie, husband Virgil Wynn.
She is survived by daughter, Wilma and husband, Michael Laircey; granddaughter, Amy and great-granddaughter, Mizominique; sisters-in-law, Hollis Armstrong and Lois Chambers.
Born in Unaka, NC. Miza loved the Lord and excelled in writing religious poetry. She was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church and worked at Armstrong’s Fish Camp and Pharr Yarns.
Funeral service to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lowell. Graveside will follow at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
