Muriel Lee (Broome) Featherstone, 91, of Belmont passed on to her heavenly home in the early morning hours of Saturday February 3, 2024. Muriel was born one October 25 1932 in Mount Holly. She never strayed far from Gaston County. She was a wife and mother and she stayed at home to raise her family and to take care of them. Her family says that she was a loving wife and mother. She had a great sense of humor. She really enjoyed watching air planes take off and land. She knew the various airlines and she could identify their planes, but she would never go on a flight herself. She never saw the inside of a plane. She was so excited to make it nine decades and she lived her life to the fullest she could. Muriel was a fantastic cook. Her family is going to miss her turkey, gravy and dressing. She was a widow for over 30 years and her family is comforted by the thought of her being reunited with the love of her life. Muriel’s life affected many people inside and outside her family. She is most certainly missed.
Muriel is the daughter of the late Della Mae (Mullis) Broome and George Gunther Broome. Her husband, Joseph “Marvin” Featherstone also went one before her in 1993. They were married for 42 years before he passed. Her sister Rachel (Broome) Martin, of Mount Holly, and her brothers, Carl Broome and Ray Broome, both of Mount Holly, have also preceded her in death.
Muriel leaves behind her daughter, Pattie (Featherstone) Franklin and her husband Ronnie and her son, Randy Featherstone. Missing their grandmother are her granddaughter, Kelly (Franklin) Hilldebran and her husband, Shannon and grandson, Jason Franklin. Muriel’s legacy includes her two great-grandchildren, Allie Hilldebran and Noah Hilldebran. He brother, Dean Broome, of Ruskin, Florida is also left behind.
