Nell Faulkner Jenkins

Nell Faulkner Jenkins, 82, of Gastonia, passed away on Tuesday, April 02, 2013 with her loving family by her side. She was a native of Gastonia and the daughter of the late William and Kate Faulkner.

Nell was a devoted wife, loving mother and loving grandmother and homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she had many friends and was loved by her church family. She was honored as a Life Member of the Circle and honored with a Life Service Pin from the UMW. She was a member of the Goodtimers, the Mary Martha Sunday School Class, original member of the hand bell choir. She was a member of the Lucile Tatum Homemakers and delivered Meals on Wheels during her active life.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the loving people at Kindred Transitional Care and Sue Moss, her loving friend and caregiver and a special thank you to Gilda Rice, niece, for her love and care given to Mrs. Jenkins.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John E. Jenkins; daughters, Joy Bumgardner and Pam Dalpiaz and husband Jim of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Kyle Bumgardner and wife Allison of Charlotte, Wes Bumgardner and wife Janelle of Belmont, Erika Lowery and husband Johnathan, Jordan Dalpiaz of Gastonia, Caroline Dalpiaz of Charlotte; six great grandchildren, Ella, Kate and Max Bumgardner, Ava and Morgan Bumgardner, Jacob Lowery.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A. M. Friday at Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Reece officiating with a visitation following in the Fellowship Hall.

Entombment will follow the visitation service at the Garden of Valor Mausoleum at Westview Gardens with a “Releasing of the Doves”.

Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jack, Bill and Paul Faulkner; sisters, Clara Bradley, Ruby Barber and Elaine Smith; son-in-law, David Q. Bumgardner.
