Odessa Mae Miller Martin

Odessa Mae Miller Martin, age 81, of Gastonia, died at her home on Saturday, February 26, 2011. She was born in Surry County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Edward and Maria Brown Miller.

Mrs. Martin retired from Armour Meat Packing Company, Charlotte.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter, Lavena Burch and husband John of Clover; three sons, David Lee Martin, William Russell Martin of Gastonia, Thomas Junior Martin of Clover; one sister, Josephine Layel of Stateroad, North Carolina; one brother, Glenn Paul Miller and wife Willie Faye of Advance, North Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great, great granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P. M. Wednesday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia and at other times will be at the home of Thomas Junior Martin, 1322 Tom Joye Road, Clover, S. C.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 P. M. Wednesday at Gaston Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Russell Junior Martin; sister, Dorothy Nicholson.
