Milt was a son of the late Kelly Clyde and Sylvia Goldberg Collins. He was a proud US Navy veteran serving for nearly 11 years. Milt was raised in the Gastonia area and attended South Point High School. He left the area when he joined the military only to return after discharge. He worked at Siemens-Westinghouse for 16 years before retiring and moving to Washington state in 2007 and later to Texas in 2016. He always wanted his final resting place to be in his "hometown".
Milt was a born-again Christian and wouldn't let a day go by without spending much time with God in prayer and reading his bible. An avid reader and history buff, he loved learning about everything historical. He enjoyed traveling and discovering all he could about people and places, or just to take in the beauty of God's work. A "foodie" he enjoyed cooking as well as eating his favorite foods. Music was part of his heart and soul, and he was proud of all the songs (thousands) he collected over the years, listening to them whenever he could. An animal lover, he adored and spoiled all his "furr babies" unapologetically.
An intelligent man, he was as down-to-earth as anyone can be. He will be remembered most for his beautiful smile, his generous spirit, big heart, quick wit, and for his love of God, Country, and Family.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Pamela J Collins; two brothers, Larry and Eugene Collins; a sister, Annette Collins.
Family visitation will be at Carother's Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 5-7 pm and graveside service will be held at the Garden of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Dr., Gastonia on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to your local animal shelter.
