Pauline “Polly” Robinson, age 98, passed away early in the morning on Sunday May 27, 2018. A native of Gastonia, North Carolina, Polly has been living near family in Greenville, South Carolina, in recent years. Polly was born May 4, 1920, to George Clifford Robinson and Lena Eunice Walker Robinson. The last survivor of seven children, Polly never married. She was employed many years by Pinkney Mill and Homelite Chain Saws, Inc., in Gastonia.
She was a loving and devoted sister to her siblings, and she and her three sisters often traveled together and had many adventures. Polly was a caring and fun aunt to her nine nieces and nephews and their families. She was a member of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church. “Aunt Polly,” as she was known to many, was a fine cook. She was skilled in knitting and crocheting, and made many treasured items for her family. She had a keen sense of humor and loved to joke and tease. She was an avid Braves baseball fan and rarely missed a televised game. In her final years, Polly was a resident at NIH Palmettos assisted living facility at 810 East Butler Road in Greenville, South Carolina. There she was known as “Miss Polly” and was always accommodating and gracious to staff and other residents. The family wishes to express gratitude for the daily kindness and loving care the staff showed to Aunt Polly.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM ~ Wednesday May 30, 2018. Burial will be in the Singing Tower Garden at Gaston Memorial Park cemetery in the Robinson family burial site, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.
