Ralph found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, spending time at the beach, and, most of all, making memories with his beloved grandchildren. He had a special affection for cats and all animals, and they seemed to love him in return.
Gifted with a remarkable talent for fixing just about anything, Ralph built a career repairing office equipment, including computers, printers, and copiers. As technology evolved over the years, he adapted with it, embracing new challenges and continuously expanding his skills. He was known for his ingenuity, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his sister, Kathy Scott and his cat of 21 years, Blue.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Susan A. Long; daughter, Gwen Basinger and husband David; grandchildren, Savannah Willis and husband Stephen, Hunter Whisnant, and Sadie Graham; great grandson, Jeremiah Willis; siblings, Hans Long and wife Jean Ann, Leon Long, Danny Long and wife Sharon, Barbara Long, and Mary Long; and his cat of 14 years, Mercy.
