
Raymond M. Pina, Sr., 88, of Belmont, NC passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Monday December 26, 2016. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, and an Eastern Airline Meteorologist for most of his career in Augusta, NY, Atlanta and Miami. Raymond was a gifted athlete competing in high school wrestling, gymnastics, football, and track. He had a passion for physical fitness and was an avid runner and jogger in to his 70’s. He continued to walk every day, even ‘til his last day. Before moving to the assisted living, he loved his gang at the Belmont YMCA. We are assured that upon Raymond’s confession of faith he is in heaven with his Savior, and is now joined with Alberta, his beloved wife of 64 years.
Ray is survived by his four children, Raymond Jr and Dolores Pina, of Gastonia, Alan and Millie Pina of Hampton, Ga, Debra and Dave Streett, of Gastonia, and Bruce and Margaret Pina of Gastonia. Ray is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way to date.
The family gives special thanks to the many medical professionals, including Dr. Gary Dubisky, CMA Susan White, PA-C John Davis, The Dialysis Unit at Caromont Regional Medical Center, The staff of Brookdale New Hope, and Hospice of Lincoln and Mecklenburg County. Additionally, with sincere appreciation to Kurt Geske of Gaston County Veteran’s Services, and Congressman Patrick Mc Henry, in expediting Veteran’s benefits.
There will be a private ceremony at the graveside for family members. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memorial to Raymond M.
