

Rebecca “Jane” (Summitt) Holman, 80, of West Gastonia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday September 1, 2021. Jane passed away peacefully at home under the care of her son, Darrell, and Gaston Hospice. Jane was a devoted daughter, wife and mother. She was a committed Christian and an active member of The First Wesleyan Church in Bessemer City, NC. Jane was a homemaker who had an artist’s heart. She and her husband, Joe, grew hundreds of roses and day lilies and Jane enjoyed arranging the flowers they grew. She was known for her gorgeous large arrangements of flowers. Jane will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Jane’s husband of 58 years, Alvin “Joe” Holman, preceded her in death in September 2020. Jane is the daughter of the late Neely (Evans) Summitt and Lee Summitt. Her sister, Gladys Summitt, and her brother, Leon Summitt, also precede her in death.
Jane’s son, Reverend Darrell Holman, survives her.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at 4:00 PM at the First Wesleyan Church, 510 East Alabama Avenue, Bessemer City, NC. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the church. Pastor Josh Baker will offer words of encouragement and hope to family and friends that gather to remember Jane and to celebrate her life.
Jane will be laid to rest, next to her dear husband, and committed back to the earth at 2:30 PM on Sunday September 5, 2021 at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 251 Olney Church Road, Gastonia.
