Reedy "Lloyd" Caldwell
March 12, 1931 – January 5, 2019
A Man Who Served His Family, Friends and Country Honorably....
Reedy "Lloyd" Caldwell, age 87, passed away on Saturday ~ January 5, 2019 at the CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. Lloyd served honorably in the United States Marine Corps as an MP during the Korean Conflict. He was a Huge Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves Fan. When he wasn't watching his ballgames, Lloyd loved to take care of his yard work, landscaping and working in the flower garden. He worked for and retired from Ramsey Products Corporation where he was a tool and dye machinist. When asked of what his wife will miss most about Lloyd, she said "his companionship and just having him there close to her''. Lloyd will also be missed by his family and friends.
Those left behind to cherish Lloyd's memories and carry on his legacy is his loving, devoted and faithful wife of 67 years, Laura Cherry Caldwell; two sons and daughters in law: Steve and Sherry Caldwell of Belmont, North Carolina, Chris and Angela Caldwell of Catawba, South Carolina, two daughters and son in law: Phyllis and Ric Henson of Tarboro, North Carolina, Carolyn of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one sister: Dorothy Singleton of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive; and not to forget, Tess his spoiled and fury companion.
Lloyd was the son of the late Reedy Roosevelt Caldwell and Mary Isabel Evans Caldwell. He was also preceded in death by his brother in law: Steve Singleton (husband of Dorothy).
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday ~ January 9, 2019 in the Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina with Reverend Roger Wentz delivering words of comfort and hope to Lloyd’s family and friends.
Graveside and Committal Service will follow in the War Memorial Garden at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina with Military Honors Accorded by the United States Marine Corps and Gaston County Honor Guard.
The family will receive guests from 12:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM with the Marine Corps League standing post beside his casket during the visitation hours prior to the service.
