Robert Huel Parson

A humble man, a devoted husband and wonderful father and grandfather … Robert Huel Parson, age 77 passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Parson grew up in South Gastonia and worked for Firestone Mill for 38 years. He loved country music, walking, collecting coins and was a big NASCAR fan. He was the son of the late Boss Parson and Rosie Powell Parson. Robert was preceded in death by his dear wife of 49 years, Yvonne Parson.

Those left behind to cherish his memories and continue his legacy are his daughter: Dana Parson Tuck of Gastonia, North Carolina; two sons and daughters in law: Robert “Gary” and Sheila Parsons of McDonough, Georgia, Donald and Loretta Parsons of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; brother: Bobby Parson of Gastonia, North Carolina; two sisters; Rosalee Tart of Clover, South Carolina and Maggie McBee of Gastonia, North Carolina.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2016 in the Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 with Reverend A.M. Stevens to deliver words of comfort to the family and friends. Active pallbearers are Brandon Adams, Richard Arrowood, Mark Parsons, Joshua Parsons, Randy Wilson and James Smith.

Graveside and committal service will follow at Westview Cemetery, 1123 Edgewood Road, Bessemer City, North Carolina 28016.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home.
