

Ruth was born on March 5, 1927, in Tate City, GA to the late Grover Cleveland Rogers and the late Arka Nichols Rogers. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dewitt Malcum Ledford; daughter, Linda Whisnant; granddaughter, Karen Meek; 5 brothers, Ellis, Willis, Willard, Wayne, and Charles Rogers; 3 sisters, Maggie Rogers Dover, Mary and Wilma Rogers; and son-in-law, Jerry Garland Mull.
Ruth was a devoted wife and lifelong caregiver, known for her servant's heart and unwavering faith. Her generous spirit and deep love for Jesus Christ guided every facet of her life. Ruth built a meaningful career with Burlington, Pharr Yarns, Homelite, and Textron, and was a proud Charter Member of United Baptist Church in Gastonia, where she nurtured her community with grace and compassion. A woman of remarkable intellect, Ruth maintained a sharp mind throughout her life. She was also an exceptional cook who delighted in preparing meals for those she loved. Her passions included tending to her garden, reading her daily devotionals, and seeking out antiques—each reflecting her appreciation for beauty, tradition, and quiet joy. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and enduring love.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Karen Ledford Mull; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Reba Rogers Denton, Jean Rogers Tucker, Mae Rogers Owenby, Wanda Rogers; and son-in-law, David Whisnant.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 1:45 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at United Baptist Church, 1970 Lowell Bethesda Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056. Burial will take place at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054.
