Saundra Lea Radford

Saundra Lea (Sherrard) Radford, 85, of York, SC passed away peacefully at her home on September 3, 2023. Saundra was born March 21, 1938, in Steubenville, Ohio to her parents L. Winona (Daugherty) Sherrard and Chester Sherrard. After high school, she enrolled in nursing school and became a Registered Nurse. Saundra worked in a variety of medical settings including hospital work, as a travel nurse and even nursing instruction. Saundra had a sarcastic personality; she enjoyed what her family called “picking'', often teasing her family and friends. Her favorite color was purple and she was skilled in many types of needlework. She enjoyed making quilts, knitting and crocheting. She loved animals and she enjoyed traveling. Saundra had a big impact on many people. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all that knew and loved her.

Saundra is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, William Radford. Her brother Thomas Sherrard, her son-in-law Kenneth Rhyne and her grandson, Jason Rhyne.

Saundra leaves behind her five children, Donald Radford, his wife Debbie, Linda Radford, Cathy Radford, Deborah Rhyne and, Shawn Radford and his wife Melinda. Saundra leaves behind 10 grandchildren – Kenneth Rhyne, Christopher Rhyne, Andy Rhyne, Amanda Rhyne, Matthew Rhyne, Kelly Hahn, Paul Radford, Shannon Radford, Leslie Radford-Tresser and Stewart Radford. Her legacy includes six great-grandchildren – Savannah Hahn, Patrick Rhyne, Jace Rhyne, Elizabeth Radford-Tresser, Aubrey Radford-Tresser, and Delilah Radford-Tresser.

The family plans a graveside service at 3:00 P.M. on September 7, 2023 in The Garden of Four Seasons at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina. Roger Overton from Second Baptist Church of Mt Holly will officiate the service. All are invited to attend in remembrance of Saundra.
