

Having your family come to dinner is a joy for a lot of mothers and grandmothers...And it was especially an extreme joy for Shirley Ann Queen who will be greatly missed by her family...Shirley who was only 77, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at her residence. She was a lady who was fun loving and loved to laugh. She loved to make beautiful quilts. Shirley was family oriented, that was the way she was brought up by her parents, Connie Walker and Lottie Burgess Walker who have passed before her.
One of the greatest things about her was that she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Teaching them the simple and traditional things about life.
Those who have preceded Shirley in death were her husband of 46 years, Gene Queen; her son Kevin Walker; three brothers: Jerry, Herman and Gene Walker; one sister-in-law: Dot Walker.
Shirley’s loving family left behind to cherish her memories are her two sons: Richard “Rick” Queen and wife Vicki along with Steve Queen and wife Linda; one daughter: Patricia Howell and husband Dennis; two sister-in-law’s: Betty Walker and Frances Walker; one brother: Ray Walker and wife Juanita; five grandchildren: Shauna Tomlin, Kevin Curtis Matthews, Stephanie Denton, Leslie Myers and Brooke Queen; eleven great grandchildren: Caleb, Andrew, Tristan, Walker, Seth, Sara, Cole, Kendall, Graham, Ashlyn and Kaitlyn.
A Celebration of Life and memories of Mrs. Queen will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Salem Baptist Church, 1534 Rolling Meadow Lane, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 with Reverend Junior Morris to deliver the words of comfort.
Shirley’s family will be receiving friends at the church from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. prior to the ceremony.
The committal service will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina, 28054.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made in Shirley’s name to: Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, North Carolina, 28054
