Steve was a dedicated and hardworking man who took great pride in his work. He spent more than 42 years at Monarch Knitting Machinery, where he built a long and respected career. After retiring from his first career, Steve continued to put his many talents to use as a true “fix-it man.” There seemed to be little he couldn’t do, from home renovations and repairs to mechanical work.
Steve was also a longtime member of the Optimist Club in Mt. Holly, where he enjoyed being involved in the community, particularly in youth sports. He had a genuine love for sports and especially treasured watching his grandchildren play and cheering them on from the sidelines.
He enjoyed spending his free time working on his motorcycle and his beloved MGA, camping, gardening, birdwatching, and playing golf. An avid golfer, Steve appreciated both the game and the time spent outdoors. Above all, he was a man who enjoyed keeping busy, helping others, and sharing his many talents with family and friends.
Steve will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his willingness to lend a hand, his many talents, and the joy he found in his family, his hobbies, and the activities he loved.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his brother, Eddie Redmond.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cindy Redmond; sons, Jon Redmond and wife Melanie, Shane Redmond and wife Susan, and Josh Redmond and Brie Shaneyfelt; grandchildren, Connor Redmond and Carsyn Redmond; siblings, Don Redmond and wife Norma, Tommy Redmond and wife Stacie and Brenda Williams; sister-in-law, Ann Redmond; extended family, Evan Redmond, Secily Schmaltz and Charlotte Shaneyfelt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
