Steven Lee Grigg

Steven Lee Grigg, 55, passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2016 in Holden Beach, NC. He was born May 16, 1960 to the late Harold and Velma (Wright) Grigg. Steven was a man who loved the Lord. He loved to hunt, spend time with his grandchildren and ride motorcycles. His family describes him as a man with a gruff exterior but a very soft heart who was devoted to his work and family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 10 years, Sherry Grigg of Shelby, NC; children, Tyler Shayne Mooney of Shelby, Heather Mooney of Shelby, Brooke Barrett and husband Jacob of Mooresboro, NC; brother, Dennis Grigg and wife Terri of Hickory, NC and sister, Cynthia Hale; half-sister, Dawn Phillips; two grandchildren, Myia and Rylan Barrett.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joshua Neil Mooney and step-mother, Mattie Grigg.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC. Interment will follow at Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresboro, NC.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Oasis Shriner’s Temple, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262 for the Shriner’s Children Hospital.
