Sue Millen Weaver

Sue was born on November 30, 1939, in Gaston County and grew up on South New Hope Rd. She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jack” Claude Millen and Sarah Eliza Hudspeth. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Weaver; son, Brad Grice; sister, Kathryn Millen Aughtry; and brother, Tommie P. Millen.

Sue was a natural when it came to history, especially when it came to learning about the town she lived in, Kings Mountain and family history. She provided a wealth of information to her nieces, Suzanne A Whitten and Treena M Ruotanen, Keepers of the Millen Family History. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and National Society of the war of 1812, The Society of Colonial Dames, as well as the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a long-time church member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was a long time administrative employee of Gaston Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her brother, Dennis Byers and wife Sylvia; granddaughter, Stephanie Grice Howes and her husband Matt, and three grandsons; granddaughter,Nicole Grice; niece, Suzanne Whitten and husband Jim, as well as many other nieces and nephews that were special to Sue. She also is survived by her loyal dog, Missy, who protected Sue Fiercely!

A graveside service for Sue will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054.
