Terrence Allen "Terry" Rix, age 64, of Stanley, North Carolina, died on February 14, 2018, at the CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina after a long illness. Terry, the son of Keith and Hilda (Hanson) Rix, was born on March 19, 1953 in Salamanca, New York and grew up in Arcade, NY where he attended Arcade Central School and Pioneer Central School.
Terry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served from 1986 to 1994 at bases in the United States, Germany, and Korea. After leaving the service, Terry was employed as a maintenance worker and handyman at various places in New York and North Carolina, including Motorola in Arcade and Twin Lakes Homes and the Yorkshire Agency in Yorkshire., NY Terry was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Hardin Community Baptist Church in Hardin, North Carolina. He was an avid fisherman and former member of the United Methodist Church in Arcade, NY.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, a cousin, John Rix, and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sister, Sherry Rix, of Delray Beach, Florida; a niece, Michelle McCubbin-Hackett, of Arcade; a grandnephew; an aunt, Arlene Bailey of Arcade; and several cousins: Carol Bruyere of Spring Hill, Florida; Philip Rix of Arcade; Kevin Rix of Elmira, New York; Connie Kaack of Spring Hill, Florida; Cindy Boberg of Arcade; Cherie Lou Rix of Fayette, Ohio; and Cheryl Kaufman of Noblesville, Indiana. Terry is also survived by two very good friends, Ed Bentley of East Aurora, New York and Jim Payne of Mt. Holly, North Carolina.
A memorial service for Terry was held at the Hardin Community Baptist Church on February 21, 2018. Terry will be interred at the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, North Carolina on March 9, 2018. Military Honors will be provided by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard and the Gaston County Honor Guard. Funeral Home Services for Terrence were provided by Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park of Gastonia, NC.
