OBITUARY

Thomas "Tommy" William Barr

November 29, 1988September 2, 2019

Thomas William Barr (age 30) of Belmont, North Carolina Passed away on September 2, 2019 due to complications of infection. He grew up in Damascus, Maryland with his Mother Lisa, his Late Father Donny, and his two brothers Larry and David. He rode horses and went boating, fishing and crabbing with his family. Tommy was an incredibly loving man who cherished his family and was always filled with laughter, love and amazingly bright smiles. He loved cooking and was happy when he could cook for his family and see them enjoy his food. He lived life to the fullest whether he was out turkey or duck hunting or had a fishing pole in his hand deep sea fishing, or off a pier or on a pond. It didn’t matter if he caught anything or not it was fun to him. He attended La Cordon Bleu in Florida and excelled in his classes, it wasn’t long before he worked his way up the ranks and became an incredibly talented Executive Chef, who won many food competitions. He expected a lot out of his crew as he himself was hard working dedicated chef, but he always was understanding and would be there for his team when they needed a shoulder to lean on or words of encouragement. He loved his girlfriend Savannah with every fiber of his being and cherished her daughter Kinley and was a true father figure. His bond with them is unbreakable even though he has left this world to move on to the next. He will be greatly missed by so many, he touched so many lives with joy, love and happiness, gone too soon from this earth. He is up in heaven now, truly at peace and surrounded by his loved ones that have gone before him.

He was a beloved son to his mother Lisa LaFollette and step-father Jeffrey (Morgan) LaFollette of Gastonia, North Carolina. He was an amazing brother to both Donald Laurence Barr of Polkville, North Carolina and David Kirk Barr of Gastonia, North Carolina. He was an incredible boyfriend to his beloved Savannah Craig and wonderful father figure to her daughter Kinley Craig of Belmont, North Carolina. He also left behind his Uncle Scott Schiller and Aunt Cynthia Schiller of Ranson, West Virginia, Cousin Jaimie Hula and Steve Hula of Ranson, West Virginia, Cousin Brian Schiller and Heather Schiller of Westminster, Maryland, Uncle Don West and Aunt Jodi West of Fairview, Pennsylvania, Cousin Jordon West and Missie West of Fairview, Pennsylvania. So Sorry to hear of Thomas passing. I worked with Thomas at the Holiday Inn in Surfside Bch, S.C. He was our Exc. Chef. He had an incredible talent for GREAT FOOD! He always had a smile and kind words with everyone. He will be missed by many! Thoughts and prayers to all his family and friends.

I worked closely with Thomas at The Caravelle. His smile would light up a room when he entered and his eyes had a twinkle that would make you laugh. We spent many hours talking about food and his ideas and his outlook on life. He will be missed by all of us .
My heart goes out to his family and they should know that a star has been added to the heavens

Thomas brought a quality of food to The Landmark Resort that was very "rare".Beautiful presentation and exceptional flavors. I loved working with him.Still can't wrap my head around the fact he is gone so soon,so young.I can tell from his pictures he was happy and in love with Savannah. RIP my friend

He was such a beautiful baby, he had brilliant amber eyes and eye lashes that wouldn't quit. All the women were always envious of his lashes. He was a very happy child despite the fact that he had 9 major surgeries on his legs prior to him turning 10 years old. His brothers doted on him during those years as did his father and myself.

He was a one of a kind with his love and laughter and his brilliant smile. His life cut short at the young age of 30, his life's wishes and dreams never to be realized. He wanted to retire when the time came to a cabin in the woods and live off the land. He had so many hopes and dreams and a positive outlook on life.

My heart calls out for you Tommy, my soul screams for you. I will love you forever Tommy and miss you beyond words till we are reunited when my time comes. May you be at peace in heaven with God and all the family that went before you.
