Velma Jean proudly served her country as a member of the United States Air Force. She loved God, cherished her family above all else, and found great joy in singing in church and harmonizing with her sisters.
She is survived by her sons Dino Fair (Debbi) and Terry Fair (Pat); grandchildren Amy, Megan, Brett, and Nathan Fair; great-grandchildren McKenna, Ellie, Lilly, Emilie, and Jaxon; her sister Carolyn Farmer and brother Gary Gregg; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Jerial Bereece; sisters Barbara Black, Berdee Jacques, and Betty Kyker; and brother James Gregg.
Velma Jean will be remembered for her deep faith, her devotion to family, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met.
A visitation will be held at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Wednesday September 24, 2025. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Gaston Memorial Park.
