

Walter Louis Wright Sr., 87 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Walter was a Godly man who loved his church and loved spending time reading his Bible. He also loved playing bingo with his friends at PEAK Resources. He was proud to serve his country during WW II and the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, China Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Walter will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2016 at South Gastonia Church of God. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. Reverend Bobby Gilley will preside.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Walter is survived by his three sons, Walter Louis Wright Jr of Kings Mountain, David Wright and wife, Martha of Clover, SC, Timothy Wright and wife, Lisa of Clover, SC; one sister, Dorothy Simpson of Belmont, NC; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Biggs Wright, two brothers and two sisters.
