Wilma was born in Gaston County on September 11, 1936, to the late Sam Rhyne and the late Estelle Baker Rhyne. In addition to her parents, she also is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Chastain; brothers, Neil Rhyne, Jerry Rhyne; and sisters, Margaret Dale, Sarah Benfield, Rose Drum and Lorraine Warren.
Wilma will be remembered as a woman of vibrant faith, boundless energy, and deep joy. Truly a lively spirit, she was delightfully fun, effortlessly outgoing, and possessed a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel welcome and uplifted. Music was the heartbeat of Wilma’s life. She had a profound love for singing and shared her beautiful voice with the world at every opportunity. For many years, she dedicated her talents to the Lord, singing passionately in various church choirs and touching the hearts of many with her song. She eventually found her cherished spiritual and musical home at Crouse Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Bost of Crouse, NC; brothers, Don Rhyne of Gastonia, NC, and Wayne Rhyne (Sherry) of Gastonia; sister, Kathy Roberts (Buddy) of Lexington, SC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
