

Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts Agnes moved to Houston, Texas in 1963 where she remained until retiring to Georgetown, Texas in 2009. She touched many lives throughout the course of her own as a mother, a grandmother, a den mother, a friend, and a girl scout leader. Agnes was always an active member of any community she lived in taking part in garden clubs, assisting her church with fundraisers, or working with her local food bank and other community outreach programs. In her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, and celebrating other cultures through the art of dance. Her strength of character, kindness, and leadership will continue to guide her children through her memory.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents Joseph P. and Mary Anne Carruthers Morano. She is survived by her husband Frances J. Smejkal, her siblings Madeline LaPlante, Mary Elizabeth LeClair, Robert Morano, Patricia Donovan and her children: Daniel R. LeClair, Kenneth E. LeCLair, Elizabeth Mary LeClair, Gregory J. LeClair, Michael J. LeClair, and Mark R. LeClair as well as eleven grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held for Agnes at St. Helen’s Catholic Church on 2700 East University Avenue Georgetown, Texas 78626 on the 5th day of May 2012 at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Agnes' name to St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, or to the Nature Conservancy.
