

Albert Eugene Ragsdale, 90, of Georgetown, died December 11, 2008 in a local Williamson County Hospital. The family will receive friends at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 12, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Pastor John F. Selle will officiate at the funeral service on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery. Albert was born June 18, 1918 to Thomas Larkin and Ellen Eva (Chambers) Ragsdale in Waco. The family relocated to Austin, where he graduated from Austin High School. Albert heard his country’s call during World War II, serving with the 6th Army in the Philippines. He saw action also in Luzon, New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago, earning him a Combat Infantryman’s Badge. After the war, he married Elsie Glauninger on June 26, 1946 in Austin. Albert devoted his life to his wife and their children. In his later years his passion was his grandchildren. He made his living as a self-employed cement contractor. Albert was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin, and after moving to Georgetown joined and worshipped at Faith Lutheran Church. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved Elsie. He is survived by sons, Tommy and wife Colette of Georgetown and Glen and his wife Charlyne of Georgetown; daughters, Frankie and husband Joe Rehfeld of Lago Vista and Connie and husband King Bravo of Boerne; sister, Inez Gaines of Cedar Creek; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their appreciation to those whose care and compassion made Albert’s final years, comfortable and dignified. Notably Carol Headrick, his home caregiver, the nurses and staff of Hospice Austin and Round Rock Medical Center.
