Alfred was described as the best brother ever. He was known to be an extremely loving and generous person. His favorite hobby was playing a round of golf. From a young age, he began golfing with his brother, and eventually moved to Sun City for the golf courses.
He served the United States government for many years. Alfred enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 8, 1955, working as a linguist and specializing in Russian. During this time, he also worked for the National Security Office. Alfred retired from the United States Air Force on September 1, 1975 as a Master Sergeant. He continued his career with the National Security Office, and later retired on April 28, 1989, having serviced them for 33 years. Alfred received recognition awards during his career, including the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service between January 15, 1965 and August 15, 1967, and the Department of Defense Joint Service Commendation Medal for Meritorious Performance of Duty in Support of the Mission of the National Security Office between February 9, 1972 and August 22, 1975. Alfred was very proud of the time he had spent serving his country, and his bedroom walls were lined with the medals and appreciation letters he received.
Alfred is survived by his sisters, Gloria Benavides Castillo, Bertha Schwoch, and Mary Helen Sini; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Louis Benavides and John Benavides; and his sister, Irene Benavides Brown.
