

Apolonia “Paula” Herrera Lozano, 78, a longtime resident of Georgetown passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Services were held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. Interment followed at Georgetown Memorial Cemetery. Honoring her memory serving as pallbearers were, Michael Martinez, Jesse Herrera, Josh Brock, Scot Ramirez, Hugo Trejo, and Efren Aguirre. Paula was born on August 5, 1932 in Cotulla, Texas to the late Pedro and Higinia Chapa Herrera. She was the oldest of 10 children. Paula married the love of her life Romulo Lozano, Jr. in Georgetown on September 24, 1950. They raised their family and cherished their life together at their ranch for over 60 years. Paula was an animal lover and cherished her dog, Little Bit. She was a master seamstress; her loving touch went into every stitch she sewed. Her artistry will be cherished by her family and friends for many years. Paula worked at Riverhaven Nursing Home, as the receptionist and greeter for over 25 years. She loved to cook and enjoyed having her family together to cook for them. Paula enjoyed traveling and learning about new places and experiencing new adventures. Paula and Romulo have been longtime members of St. Helen Catholic Church. Paula will be remembered by her family and friends for her hard working ethics, her compassion, and her strong faith in God and for being a caregiver to all those she loved. Paula is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Eloisa Zavala; and her grandson, Jason Wayne Valdez. Paula leaves behind to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, her loving husband of over 60 years, Romulo Lozano,Jr.; her three beautiful daughters, Amelia L. Valdez, Anita L. Martinez, and Irene L. Torrez; her 8 brothers and sisters; her grandchildren, Michael Martinez and his wife Tiffany, Angela Mitchell and her husband Robert, Brenda Ramirez and her husband Scot, Michelle Brock and her husband Josh, Krystle Trejo and her husband Hugo; her great grandchildren, Arianna Cowan, Camryn Martinez, Alyssa Valdez, Mackenzie Martinez, Lauryn Ramirez, Isaac Aguirre, Colton Ramirez, Julissa Trejo, and Kalen Brock; along with many other cherished extended family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers were, Angela Mitchell, Brenda Ramirez, Michelle Brock, Krystle Trejo, Salicca Arciba and Robert Mitchell.
