

Betty Lou Hatch passed away peacefully in the presence of family on December 21, 2016. Born in Mills County, near Goldthwaite, on October 23, 1926, first child of Louis and Emma Yeager Truitt. Betty and her family moved to the Mansfield Dam area late in 1945 then to the Volente area in April, 1946. She was introduced to Gerald Hatch by her sister, Dolly. Betty married Gerald on April 25, 1950 in Austin, Texas. Betty was a housewife and mother to her four boys and one daughter. They lived on a ranch near RR 620 and Anderson Mill Road adjacent to Gerald’s parent’s ranch. In 1962 they moved to Austin then back to the Hatch ranch in 1970 where Gerald passed in 1991. After the death of her husband, Betty moved to Goldthwaite to enjoy the small-town life with family and old friends of her early years. She often traveled back to Austin to see her children and their families.Betty was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Goldthwaite. Betty is predeceased by her husband Gerald, brothers Ollie Royce Truitt, Henry Otto Truitt, Robert Louis Truitt, sons Robert Randall Hatch and Marvin Anthony “Tony” Hatch. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to all. She loved spending time with her family, loved her time with her friends and loved living in Goldthwaite. She often said Gerald would have loved living in Goldthwaite too.She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her sister, Dolly Nuse, daughter and son-in-law, Geralda and Jim Britt; sons and daughter-in-laws, Greg and Connie Hatch, Henry and Cyrece Hatch; daughter-in-law, Dixie Hatch, grandchildren, William, Greg, ShayLynn, Heather, Joel, Shane, Ashley, Meagan, Brandon, and Travis; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jordan, Megan, Kendall, Eric, Karlee, Bayli, Joshua, Savannah, Lexi, Gray, Jack, Easton, Hunter, Leo and Saydi. Memorial Service and celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Sunday, January 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Goldthwaite. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Fellowship Baptist Church in Goldthwaite.
