Betty's first job as a senior in high school was at Westminster Senior Home. There she found her calling for helping the elderly and sick. She then worked for the University of Texas Health Center for 25 years and ended her work career at a private medical office.
She loved getting together with family, enjoyed trips to the casinos and playing card games which she took after her father. Betty loved to laugh, and her laugh was contagious. She could recall so many memories and loved to share them with those she made the memories with. Betty had a generous spirit and a fondness for giving thoughtful gifts to her family, especially the grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband of 42 years, Bernard Jaramillo; children, Brandie Gutierrez (Greg Gutierrez), Rosie Cortez (Mike Cortez), Benjamin Jaramillo, Jonathan Jaramillo and Tricia Strength (Joe Pena); mother, Ruth Pilgrim; sisters, Mary Alvarez, Peggy Rivera, Liz Pilgrim, and Dorothy Guerrero; and brother, Ray Pilgrim, Jr. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ray Pilgrim, Sr. and sister, Paula Flores.
Private services will be held for the family.
