Our G-Bay, Betty Jo Teffeteller Phillips, went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2022 at her home near Liberty Hill, Texas. She was born to James and Chloe Teffeteller in Maryville, TN on January 10, 1939. When Betty Jo became a grandmother, her request was to be called BJ. Her oldest granddaughter, Brynn, couldn’t say BJ, she would say G-Bay and that’s how she became G-Bay. She and Daddy Ray, we called him Raynie, were married 49 years and spent most of their adult married life in the Georgetown, Texas area.
Betty was very involved and active with many organizations, including the Williamson County Texas Master Gardner Club. This was her life, caring for plants. She also had her own accounting business and was active with her HOA.
Betty Jo is preceded in death by her parents, her son Steven Lynn Ramsey, her sister, Nellie Teffeteller Foster, her husband, Raymond Luther Phillips.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry Teffeteller and wife Sharon, of Plano TX; her daughters Cynthia Elaine Ramsey, of Liberty Hill, TX; Lois Ramsey Blum and husband Chris, of Rockport, TX; her son Jim Ramsey and wife JoAnn of Luling, TX; Her grandchildren Steven Lynn Ramsey, Jr. and wife Brittnee of Tacoma, WA; Jessica Brynn Lopez and husband Justin, of La Grange, TX; Jeremy Allen White of Seguin, TX; Amy Jo Rundell of Burnet, TX; Allison Anne Jaggard and husband Jay, of Katy, TX; Travis Scot Cunningham and wife Erin, of Liberty Hill, TX; Elaina Eliza Boyd of San Antonio, TX; James Caleb Ramsey and wife Gabby, of San Marcos, TX; Brianna Ramsey of San Marcos, TX. 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Like the disciple John said about the works of Christ in John 21:25, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written, every one I suppose, that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.” G-Bay did so much good for so many. It would require volumes to record her deeds and influence.
We who are left behind will truly miss her loving and caring spirit. The memories we have of our Beautiful Betty Jo with forever be in our hearts.
Graveside funeral services will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 11 A.M. with Grandsons Pastor Justin Lopez and Pastor Travis Cunningham officiating.
Donations may be sent to the Williamson County Master Gardner Club.
