January 31, 1928 – October 15, 2020
Born in Fairmont, MN to Harry Plenge and Elsie Erickson Plenge. When Beverly was four years old, her mother passed away and a few years later, her father married Mary Swanson and they moved to Seattle, WA. Beverly attended Lincoln High School in Seattle and then met the love of her life, Melvin Robert Espedal, at a WWII wartime dance. They married in Seattle in 1947, and continued to sing and dance their way through a happy and blessed life. Beverly always had a song in her heart and was happy to share it. She belonged to several church choirs in Seattle and then in Franklin Lakes, NJ, where they lived for over 30 years. Beverly was president of the Newcomers Alumni, active in Valley Hospital Auxiliary, PTA’s, tennis groups, bridge clubs, and extremely devoted to her church. Her favorite saying was, “God’s watching out for me” and she said it often.
Retirement brought Bev and Mel to Palm Desert, CA where she was instrumental in the founding of the “Sun City Singers”. Beverly’s final years were spent in Georgetown, TX where she was lovingly cared for in her assisted living residence. Her smile was contagious and her enthusiasm to “go go go” guided her days. Bev’s love for her family and friends was evident always. The pictures of her family were her most treasured possessions.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband Melvin (2005), her son Robert (2011), her parents Harry and Elsie, her stepmother Mary, and her sister Barbara Plenge Hill. Beverly is survived by her children, Michael Espedal (Sharleen), Vicki Espedal Lappe (Hugh) and her three grandchildren Tom Espedal (Devyn), Kelsi Lappe and Mariel Espedal
