Bill Rogers, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, went home peacefully on January 30th, 2026. He leaves behind a loving wife, two children and their spouses, four grandkids and thirteen great grandkids.
He was a long time resident of Georgetown, Texas; formerly Flint, Michigan.
Originally born in Denison on October 5th, 1938, Texas was always his true earthly home in his heart. He grew up in the country and loved to tell stories about their first car, a manual crankshaft model, having to conserve battery use for the radio, their only form of entertainment. His best stories were funny ones about his parents, three sisters, childhood friends, and a family cat who exacted revenge on him when he teased her one too many times.
Bill entered the Peace Corps after his school years, then went on to serve in the U.S. Army, National Guard, and Air Force. He talked about installing radio and transmitter systems in detail. He was honorably discharged from both branches as a sergeant after 11 honorable years of combined service.
Bill moved to Flint, Michigan in 1965, hired in and retired from GM Truck and Bus. He was a proud member of UAW local 598 in Flint. He married and raised two children, a son and a daughter.
He went on to become a proud Papa (Pom Pom) to Punkin, Little Man, Peanut and Tulip. They often tell stories of him doing donuts in the snow and empty parking lots, one time he even went up on two wheels. Having singing and dance parties and him saying “the monkey in the middle gets it” as he pinched the ribs of the child in the middle seat of the car. He is a wonderful Papa who created memories with them that will live on forever and ever and then some.
Bill retired and met the love of his life, Kathy, at a dance. They married June 2, 2001 and proceeded to dance and travel through life. He loved her beyond measure. The two were inseparable. Kathy describes him as a wonderful husband, perfect in every way. They were fierce competitors at SkipBo and played every night. Everywhere they went, people stopped and noticed how cute they looked together. He was full of puns and jokes.
Surviving are beloved wife, Kathleen; special cat, Poppy; daughter, Jill Rogers (Jeff); son, James Rogers (Amy); grandchildren, Brianna (Ken), Erik, Brooke (Grant), and Amanda (Anthony); thirteen great grandkids.; two sisters, Margaret and Flo; and ten nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Opal, father James, and sister Mary.
His smile, his voice and his hugs will be sadly missed.
