Billie Louise Bondesen (née Linder), age 85, went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2026 in Georgetown, Texas. She was born on October 14, 1940 to parents William Truitt Linder and Mary Louise Linder (née Stanley) in San Antonio, Texas and spent time in Houston and Austin before moving to Georgetown, where she lived for the last 25 years.
She attended both junior college and Baylor University, studying Math, Physics, English, and Speech Radio. She volunteered as a disc jockey for Baylor’s student radio station hosting her show “Friday Night Date” from 1960-1962, where she met her first husband Robert “Kris” Bondesen. The two would go on to adopt their son Bobby in December, 1968, who she described as “the joy of her life.”
Billie was eager to learn new trades and meet new people, and she held a diverse range of careers in her quest to do so. Her favorite job was assisting with calculating mid-course corrections for NASA’s lunar landing of Apollo 11. A few other favorites include various bookkeeping positions across the 80s and 90s, years cashiering and bagging groceries at H-E-B, and eight seasons of concessions at the Dell Diamond — all of which lent themselves towards her utmost passion of helping her neighbors.
Among the talents she cultivated were bowling, square-dancing, and arts and crafts, the latter of which she made a small business of selling handmade ribbon ornaments. She was a lifelong Houston Astros fan, proudly cheering them on since 1947. Her absolute favorite color was blue, which richly adorned her home, her belongings, and occasionally her hair. She loved her family deeply and wore the badges of “Mom” and “Granny” with honor. Above all, she was a devout follower and scholar of Jesus Christ and dedicated much of her time to service with Crestview Baptist Church, where she fostered many friendships.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mary. She is survived by her sister, Mary Porter; son, Bobby Bondesen; grandchildren, Rachel and Nicholas Bondesen; and cat Smudge as well as numerous loving family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Donations can be made to The Caring Place in Georgetown in her honor. Her loved ones ask that you go forward with her motto: “Read and study The Bible, always be honest, and help other people in any way possible. You never know the blessing that is waiting for you or the smiles that will appear on their faces.”
