Billie Joyce Wilson

Born and raised by a widowed mother (Bettie Williams Cherry) in the 1930’s.  She grew up to be a strong and independent woman.  This served her well throughout the years.  She married Richard Paul Wilson on October 14, 1950 in Santa Anna, Texas.  They started their family of 2 daughters (Paula and Karen) and 2 sons (Richard and James). She was a homemaker in every sense of the word.  She guided her four children in Christian values and unending love which created strong and independent adults.

 She became bored when the children left the nest.  She joined the First National Bank in Georgetown, TX where she worked from 1976 to 1996.  Though the bank changed names several times her customers always knew she would be there to help.  She made many lifelong friends throughout her career.  She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association where she also gained many friendships. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jarrell.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Paul Wilson.  Her parents George W Cherry and Bettie Williams Cherry.   Her brother Ralph Homer Cherry.  Her two sisters Gladys Inez Cherry Ailstock and Georgia Inita Cherry Jennings.

Billie Joyce is survived by her children Paula Cockrum (David) of Jarrell, Karen Dye (Bill) of Spicewood, Richard (Susan) of Jarrell and James (Anita) of Georgetown. Grandchildren, Reid Wilson (Sabrina) and children Kaylie, Hanna, Rustin, and Kymber.  Jennifer Hausenfluke (Jacob) and children Allie, Lauren, and Barret.  Kyle Wilson (Becky) daughter Zanely.  Ryan Richter (Juli) children Braeden, Madison, and Dashiell.  Adam Richter (Paige) daughter Allesandra.  Charity Sanchez (Todd) children Jonathn and Harley son Kaiden.  Christen Eschberger (Clint) children Torin and Ashlyn.  Angela Cockrum (Kim) son Greyson.  Alan Cockrum (Kristin).  Kristen Cox (James) children Johnnie Linn, Bryanna, James David, and Travis.  Lee Vernon (Leslie) children Emily and Gavin.  Kenny Vernon (Ali) son Ethan.  Mark Vernon (Alyssa) son Vincent.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 6 to 8pm, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N. IH 35, in Georgetown.  Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2:00pm also at The Gabriels Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Land Cemetery Jarrell, TX.
