Billy Mark Martin, age 70, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 23rd. He was born on January 13th, 1948 in Greenville, Texas to his parents, Luther Murrell Martin and Marguriete Hedrick Martin.

Billy graduated from Greenville High School in 1966 and attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. His schooling was cut short when he enlisted in the Marines and fought in the Vietnam War. He landed in Vietnam on December 11, 1967, just a month before turning 19. Billy returned home safely and married Vickie Evans of Greenville, Texas in 1970. He completed his education and received a BA degree from East Texas State University in 1972. Billy was a successful realtor and appraiser in Greenville, Commerce, Sherman, and the greater Dallas area until he retired in 2002. Following retirement, he and Vickie moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas where he dedicated his life to spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, dogs, and traveling.

Billy Martin was a generous, kind, and loyal husband, father, brother, son, patriot, and friend. He had a passion for the great outdoors, hunting, cooking, and serving others. Whether he was standing at a smoker cooking up brisket for church functions or family gatherings, or volunteer work with the VA, as well as NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), Billy served others with a big heart and smile.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Luther Murrell and Marguriete Martin.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Vickie of Georgetown; his daughter, Kathleen Johnston, son-in-law, Steve Johnston and two grandsons, Eli and Luke Johnston of Austin, Texas; his daughter Kari Monk, son-in-law Rodney Monk, and grandchildren, Brandon, Jackson, and Jensen Monk of Wimberley, Texas; his brothers, Tommy Glen Martin and sister-in-law Debra Martin of Greenville and Kenneth M. Bill and I became friends when Vickie began working for The University of Texas-University Charter School. Bill quickly added me to his friend list. He would send me links to websites with things that he thought I would be interested in. He was always so easy to talk to and joke with. I know that he loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and sons (by marriage). He will be definitely be missed. I am glad to have known him.
