Brenda Sue Davidson joined her creator on March 14, 2025. She died at home from natural causes. She is now with her loved ones and pets, who crossed over Rainbow bridge into Heaven, where the Heavenly Father welcomed her home.
When thinking about her contributions to the world, Sue would want you to know that she loved being a Critical Care & Trauma Registered Nurse for 30 years. She served proudly for 20 years as a Nurse Officer in the United States Air Force and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in San Antonio, Texas. Throughout her career, in hospitals, clinics or on deployment during the Gulf War, Sue was recognized as a leader, who excelled as an administrator and mentor to hundreds of young Air Force nurse officers and enlisted personnel.
Sue met and married her best friend and love of her life, George R. Davidson, July 5, 1975. They had many adventures together, including being stationed in Hawaii, then returning to the San Antonio area and building a retirement home in Sun City Georgetown Texas. Once retired she was able to pursue her many passions, such as playing golf in the women’s league and volunteering for 15 years with Hospice Austin. She was proud to serve as the first chair of the Annual Hospice Austin Golf Tournament raising much needed funds for the organization. In addition, she was a very active and devoted member of Wellspring United Methodist Church, serving on many committees, singing in the choir, serving as worship leader and creating lovely floral arrangements for the altar. She loved singing, going to choir practice and referred to it as her “therapy”. In later years, Sue started art classes and discovered she was a talented artist. Her varied painting subjects, all won high praise, to include being chosen twice as The Wesleyan Annual Christmas card.
She loved going on cruises with her husband and best friends June and Alan Gavron, who were family. Sue felt very blessed to have the love and support of her brother Randall, granddaughter Heather, her husband Jake and their son George in her life. She was thrilled to become a Great Grandmother, beaming with pride whenever she talked about “little George.”
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Faye and Erbie Elliott from Ruston, Louisiana, husband George, and her fur angels, Pepper, Holly and Belle. She is survived by brother Randall Elliott, granddaughter Heather Patton, her husband Jake Patton and great grandson George Patton. In addition, she leaves behind sister-in-law Ann and many cherished cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces.
Sue will be missed every day, but as Dr. Elisabeth Kubler Ross, founder of the hospice movement wrote; “When we have done all the work we were sent to earth to do, we are allowed to shed our body, which imprisons our soul like a cocoon encloses a future butterfly, and when the time is right, we can let go of it and we will be free of pain, free of fears and worries…free as a beautiful butterfly, returning home to God and be surrounded by more love than we have ever known.” Remember: You Are Loved!
Services will be held at Wellspring United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Monday, April 7th at 10:00am, with Senior Pastor Dr. Jeffrey Smith officiating. Her ashes will be placed next to her husband George at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
