Bruce Adkins

Bruce Adkins owned “Adkins Architectural Antiques”, in Houston for many years. Through the years he operated several other antique establishments. He was an avid square dancer and deer hunter. Bruce served his country honorably in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the American Legion. Bruce married Judy Fleming in 1985 in Georgetown; they were members of Crestview Baptist Church. Bruce was born June 1, 1924 in Dupo, Illinois to the late Bruce and Zella Pearl Crabtree Adkins. He is also preceded in death by his sons, Dennis Adkins and Dwayne Adkins. Bruce passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2008, leaving behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Judy Adkins of Georgetown; daughter, Cheryl Haverland and her husband Tim of Temple; granddaughters, Brandy Leon of Riverside, CA and Sarah Haverland of Temple; grandsons, Brandon and Clint Haverland of Temple; great granddaughters, Abigail and Cassandra Leon of Riverside, CA. Also surviving him are his sisters, Colleen Milliken and her husband D.A. and Debby Ewing and her husband James; his brother, Donald Adkins; numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH35, Georgetown, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at Greathouse Cemetery, Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 10:00 AM
